Simple Scallops over Pasta

So whenever the fiance heads out of town, I run straight for the seafood, since he's allergic. This is absolutely the simplest dish to make. Takes 11 minutes or less.

Ingredients for 1:

7 medium Scallops 3oz. of your favorite pasta 3/4 c. Marinara Sauce Fresh Basil Pecorino Romano Cheese Directions:

Fill a pot with water, set on high and cover with a lid. In the meantime, pat dry the scallops. This ensures that beautiful crust on the outside. Season each side of the scallops with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Throw the pasta in the water and cook according to the package. When the pasta has only 5 minutes left I will heat up a medium sized saute pan with a tiny bit of olive oil over medium-high heat. After the pan is nice and hot, add the scallops and sear for 3 minutes. No need to check them, just let them be. Once the 3 minutes is up flip over and sear for 2 minutes more. Drain the pasta and add the marinara sauce to the pasta pot and add back in the pasta to warm up. Place in a bowl and top with the scallops. Finish off with some fresh basil and cheese.
